van’t Schip: “We’ll be focused on playing our own game”

Melbourne City FC Head Coach John van’t Schip believes his side must focus on their strengths this Friday night as they head to the Harbor City to face an in-form Sydney FC outfit.

After last weeks impressive 4-0 win over Newcastle Jets, van’t Schip felt his side must solely focus on the Sydney FC match before they look to next Saturday’s pre-finals blockbuster with Brisbane Roar.

“We’ll be focused on playing our own game away from home and that’s something that we’ll work on this week,” van’t Schip said.

“The game against Sydney is as important as the game against Brisbane because if you don’t get a good result against Sydney, the game against Brisbane becomes less important. We have to make sure we are defensively strong and solid with the way they (Sydney FC) play.”

The Dutchman was full of praise for the rampant Sky Blues’ recent run of form but believed that his side will head to Sydney looking for a result.

“Their coach has said that the team is playing the best football in the history of the club and that must be very good so we have to be prepared,

“They are a team that are scoring goals for fun and of course Janko scoring seven games in a row and their whole team is playing attractive and attacking football but it’s up to us now to find a way to get a result there,

“It’s not going to be easy, that’s for sure, they’re a team in form and we have to make sure we can come with an answer.”
