Melbourne City FC coaching and playing staff departed Melbourne on Monday evening for the team-s 17-day training camp at Manchester City-s Carrington Training Centre.

The team, flying with the Club-s new principal partner Etihad Airways, travelled to the UK in two groups, with the first departing on Sunday evening, followed by the second group on Monday evening, following the Club’s Etihad Airways announcement.

Arriving safely in Manchester on Tuesday, the group had a recovery session, in preparation for its first training session at Carrington Training Centre on Wednesday evening.

Patrick Kisnorbo flew out from Melbourne to Manchester in the second group and said he was looking forward to training at the English Premier League champion-s facility.

“It-ll be a great experience for everyone to be part of,” Kisnorbo said.

“It will be great [to] experience what a full-time professional environment at the highest level possible [is like].”

“The facility will be exceptional; great pitches, great facilities and we-re just looking forward to getting over there, training hard and see where it gets us, especially with the three games with have.

“It-s just a great experience for us as a Melbourne-based club to go over there and play and work hard.”

Kisnorbo, who played in England for Leicester City, Leeds United and Ipswich Town, has played against the three teams that Melbourne City FC are facing in the greater Manchester region; Bury, Oldham Athletic and Bolton Wanderers.

“I-ve played against all three; obviously all the levels, League One, League Two and Championship,” Kisnorbo said.

“Look, they will all be difficult games, but I think they will be a great test for the playing group.”
