Melbourne City FC would like to thank everyone who attended the Club’s annual Family Day on Sunday.
The day was a resounding success for all involved and saw approximately 3000 pass through the gates at a sunny La Trobe University Lower Playing Fields.
Fans were delighted to catch a glimpse of the first team’s open training session, which kicked-off the day from 9.45am. Fans saw Erik Paartalu hit the field for the first time as a Melbourne City FC player as the former Muangthong United man brought fans to their feet with a volley that rocketed into the back of the net following a neat training-ground move.
As the session ended, festivities were in full swing as fans and families were invited to sign the Melbourne City FC Mega Jersey with messages of support to the players for the upcoming Hyundai A-League season. Family Day was also the first time fans were able to get their hands on the Melbourne City FC Home Jersey and new merchandise, with the Club experiencing a record uptake of sales.
Players were keen to mingle with fans after training as the MatchWorks photo station and the HOSTPLUS signing session allowed fans to meet and greet their heroes. Fans’ appetites were satisfied by the Love Real Estate BBQ and cotton candy from the Westpac carnival stand as the beautiful weather saw plenty of families heading to the Choose Tap hydration station to keep hydrated throughout the day.
The Hydralyte keepy-ups competition also tested the crowd and the Club raffle saw some great prizes presented to eager fans.
The day then moved on to the Bluestar Global Logistics stage as the senior playing group were presented with their jerseys for the season and John van’t Schip addressed the fans about the exciting season ahead.
With the overall success of Family Day, the Club would like to thank everyone involved in making the day a great event.
There will be another opportunity for fans to meet the players at the Club’s Season Launch on Tuesday 7 October at 6:30pm. Tickets for the event can be booked here.
