W-League Preview: Brisbane v City

TJ v Brisbane

The clash

Melbourne City FC will begin its Westfield W-League season on Tuesday night when it takes on Brisbane Roar at Dolphin Stadium.

Rado Vidosic’s squad will be looking to continue its recent success after last season taking out both the premiership and championship in what was a historic unbeaten season.

While there were some big names that left City in the off-season, there also has been some quality players joining the Club.

Matildas defenders Jenna McCormick and Teigen Allen will both be in City colours this season while Teagan Micah will be between the sticks after returning from Norway to join the Club.

Japanese attacking midfielder Chinatsu Kira will bring some creativity in midfield and will be a goalscoring threat while US defender Sam Johnson will provide stability at the back.

City faced the Roar twice last W-League season, recording a 0-2 win in Brisbane and a 3-1 win at home.

Milica Mijatovic scored in both games and Ally Watt scored a double in the Round 14 win at home.
