At Westpac, we-re committed to supporting the grassroots football community.

We-re giving your club the rare opportunity to receive cash for every Heart goal kicked* during a pre-nominated Melbourne Heart home game, along with free tickets to that game.

The Club selected to receive a Westpac Heart2Heart grant for Melbourne Heart FC’s match with Gold Coast United was Doveton Soccer Club, who submitted the following entry:

Doveton is located in the South Eastern suburbs of Victoria. Doveton and surrounding suburbs encompass a large number of people from lower socio-economic groups and include Indigenous people and particularly people from refugee backgrounds trying to integrate into the community. Many boys from these groups come to the pre-season training but drop out because they cannot afford to pay the low registration fees which the club charges to cover registration fees from the FFV, strips and running costs of the club. (We charge the lowest of all clubs around) We have attended meetings with council and received very little help towards the struggling few, especially the Sudanese and Afghanistan boys who dropped out like flies after the season started. Getting funding will help keep the fees of the club down as well as enable the club to extend a helping hand to some of the more disadvantaged kids in the area. We had 150 juniors at the club in 2010 and we know that we should be able to bring in at least another 30 to 40 players if assistance was extended. Monies will be spent on more equipment and reduced fees for kids in need. Thank you for the opportunity to apply for this funding and I know the boys would be very excited and thrilled to be involved with anything Melbourne Heart has to offer.

Following the 0-0 draw, Aspendale have been awarded $1000, courtesy of Westpac.

Keep your club-s heart beating strong with the support of Westpac and Melbourne Heart.
