Melbourne Heart FC’s new signing Rob Wielaert arrived in Melbourne last night and visited Heart HQ this afternoon.

Melbourne Heart FC’s new signing Rob Wielaert arrived in Melbourne last night and visited Heart HQ this afternoon.

“At the moment my body wants to sleep a lot, but John [Didulica] picked me up from the airport and immediately I felt at home,” Wielaert said.

“Today I am here to do interviews and do the basic check-up and I am looking forward to playing for Melbourne Heart.”

Wielaert joins off-season recruits Harry Kewell, Massimo Murdocca and Iain Ramsay.

Wielaert, 34, has an exceptional resume, with over 350 matches of elite experience with three of the biggest clubs in Holland, PSV, Ajax and FC Twente, in the Eredivise – Holland-s premier division.

The defender has also experienced European Champions League football (where he captained FC Twente), the Europa League and has two international caps for Holland-s B team.

Wielaert will join Heart in training this week.
